Guide For Pvp Trap Assassin

Introduction

Hello! Welcome to my guide for PvP Trap Assassin, fifth in a row so far... Trap assassins are well know as public lamers, but who cares, it's ur call will u play lame or not... Anyway, to cut the crap, let's get on with the guide...

Gear

Items listed in red are ur best options, suggested gear. I'll include screenshots of how ur char should look like using those suggested items.
Items listed in blue are poor man's choices.
Items listed in green are items that u should use if ur not rich enough to get suggested ones or u simply think those are better than suggested ones.

Helm: Harlequin Crest , Peasant Crown , Lore Shako , Andariel's Visage , Kira's Guardian

Armor: Enigma Breast Plate , Skin of the Vipermagi , Que-Hegan's Wisdom , Shaftstop , Enigma Archon Plate , Chains of Honor Archon Plate

Belt: Arachnid Mesh , Verdungo's Hearty Cord , Gloom's Trap , String of Ears , Nosferatu's Coil

Weapon 1: +3 Traps +3 Lightning Sentry Katar , Jade Talon , Bartuc's Cut-Throat , Bartuc's Cut-Throat

Weapon 2: +3 Traps +3 Lightning Sentry Katar , Jade Talon , Bartuc's Cut-Throat , Bartuc's Cut-Throat

Gloves: Trang Oul's Claws , Magefist , Frostburn , Magefist , Frostburn

Boots: Sandstorm Trek , Silkweave , Waterwalk , Silkweave , Waterwalk

Ring 1: Stone of Jordan , Dwarf Star , Bul-Katho's Wedding Band , Raven Frost , Whisp Projector

Ring 2: Raven Frost , Dwarf Star , Bul-Katho's Wedding Band , Stone of Jordan , Whisp Projector

Amulet: Mara's Kaleidoscope , The Mahim-Oak Curio , Saracen's Chance , Metalgrid

Switch: Call to Arms + Lidless Wall , none , Call to Arms + any other shield


Skills

Lightning Sentry: 20
Main skill. Max it as soon as possible.
Death Sentry: 20
Syngery for Lightning Sentry and very good PvM skill. Max it after Lightning Sentry.
Charged Bolt Sentry: 20
Syngery for Lightning Sentry. Max it third.
Shock Web: 20
Syngery for Lightning Sentry. Max it fourth.
Fire Blast: 1
Pre. req. for all Lightning Traps and useful skill in PvM when u face Lightning immune monster.
Weapon Block: 10+
Since ur using two claws, why not use Weapon Block? It's better than regular block cuz it can block spells, doesn't need dex and doesn't suffer running penalty. Put at least 10 points in it. Also, put remainings when ur done with other skills.
Burst of Speed: 1
Good even with 1 base point in it. Helps running and laying Traps faster.
Shadow Master: 1
Put 1 point here, it's a nice meat shield. :]
Mind Blast: 1
When u lay Traps, they start shooting. =) But, Lightning doesn't travel really fast so it's more or less easy avoidable. Mind Blast will stun ur opponents and make them easier targets.
Pre. reqs.: 1
1 point in each pre. req. will do the trick.
Total: 98
98 skill points in total. If u do skill quests (Den of Evil, Radament and Izual) on all 3 difficulties (normal, nightmare and hell) u'll get 12 extra skill points. That makes this build completeable on level 87.

Stats

Strenght: Enough for gear with +str on items
Depending what gear u'll use calculate how much str u will need base. Little help, calculate total +str on ur gear and subtract it from "heaviest" piece of gear, the one that requires the biggest ammount of strenght. Result is how much base str u need.
If u use what I suggested, Enigma Breast Plate, u can leave it at base.

Dexterity: None or 60
U won't need any dex with this build cuz dex is not needed for Weapon Block. However, put enough base dex to be able to wear katars with +dex from other gear.
Once again, if u use Enigma Breast Plate, u can leave dex at base, but only under condition u have very low dex required katars and lots of +dex on other gear.

Vitality: Rest
More life is always better.

Energy: None
U'll have enough mana on later lvls. In case u don't, simple use mana potions. Anyway, leave it at base.

Inventory

Inventory should be filled with following stuff:

Trap Skiller with 12% FHR: Get enough of them to hit 4 frames FHR. If ur using Sandstorm Trek which has 20% FHR u need 6 of them to hit 6 frames FHR.

Trap Skiller with 20+ Life: After u get enough 12% FHR Trap Skillers fill rest of inventory with these.

Small Charms with Life and possibly resist: Get ones with 19-20 life and resist all 4-5 or resist fire/cold/lightning/poison 9-11. Those are best, get as much as u need to have all resistances 75 on hell. Most important on them is 19-20 life. Resist is optional.
Note: Another option is 20/5's if ur not legit...

Small Charms with Life and possibly mana: Get ones with 19-20 life and 14-17 mana. After u got enough of life/resist SCs to have all resistances 75 on hell get life/mana SCs, they are very useful and probably only choice left.
If ur unlegit, u can use 20/17's, of course.


Annihilus: Actually no, get flying pig instead.

Merc

Same as gear section, but for merc.

Notes:
Eth items are always better than regular ones... For merc.
Upgrade whatever can be upgraded.

Act 2 Nm Offensive

Helm: Andariel's Visage , Crown of Thieves , Rockstopper , Vampire Gaze , Harlequin Crest

Armor: Stone Sacred Armor , Bramble Archon Plate , Duriel's Shell , Guardian Angel , Shaftstop , Leviathan

Weapon: Doom Cryptic Axe , Hone Sudan , Arioc's Needle , Spire of Honor , Bonehew , The Reaper's Tool

Act 2 Nm Defensive

Helm: Andariel's Visage , Crown of Thieves , Rockstopper , Vampire Gaze , Harlequin Crest

Armor: Stone Sacred Armor , Bramble Archon Plate , Duriel's Shell , Guardian Angel , Shaftstop , Leviathan

Weapon: Breath of the Dying War Pike , Hone Sudan , Arioc's Needle , Spire of Honor , Bonehew , The Reaper's Tool

Some tips

PvM
This is very, very easy. Basically, u avoid monstery and lay Traps... And wait 'till they drop dead. If u face Lightning immune, use Fire Blase and/or let ur merc handle it.

PvP
Most of ppl say dueling using Trap assassin requires no skill at all... Well, it's more or less true... Here's why...
Use same fightning style for both melee chars and casters. Cast BC, then BO and then BoS. Once u do that, go in the field. When u face an opponent, lay few Traps and cast Mind Blast. And that's about it. Of course, use Enigma for avoiding opponent's attacks and... Well, dunno really what else to say, that's really all... 3 steps, lay Trap(s), cast MB and wait for them to die. And optional step is moving around and avoiding opponent's attacks teleporting.

Final word

End of another guide... As always, I hope u enjoyed it. If u followed this guide more or less strictly, u should end up with over 3.8k life and 700 mana and over 12k Lightning Sentry dmg.
Level of completion is 87 which isn't really high... It's needed if u want to get all the skills I mentioned above...

and my sin, Jolteon, has better stats then you and shes lvl 91

griffons doesnt bonus sentries at all because its treated as a minion, and griffons only gives to your atks. not to the sentries. its worthless and expensive.

u dont need gheeds charm at all
