Pvp Kicker!
Welcome to my PvP Dragon Talon Assassin Guide. Enough chitchat, though...
Why not start things off chronologically-With the low level setup. While there are many options available to you when it comes to leveling gear for this Assassin, I will give you one setup that is easily attainable. One tip, though, is to get your Strength where it needs to be as quickly as possible.
Leveling Gear:
Gloves:
Now there are two choices here, BloodFists and Deaths. While the Bloodfists have a nice amount of Life, FHR, and 10 IAS, I find that Deaths are a better option when used in conjunction with the Death Sash as well, only at Low Levels. This provides 8% Life Leech as well as 30% IAS, 15% Resistance to all, and even the all-important Cannot Be Frozen.
Belt:
If you chose to use Deaths Gloves, then no question you should be using Deaths Sash as well. Really an unbeatable combination for such a low level. However, if you went with Bloodfists another option is superior. Another fair option is to just use any Rare/Magical Belt you come across leveling.
Boots:
Here you will want to use the highest Kick Damage Boots you can find. Greaves/War Boots/Myrmidon Greaves fit into this category. Use the best that your Level/Strength will allow.
Rings:
Well this isnt even really a decision go with Angelics.
Amulet:
Again, nothing beats Angelics.
Armor:
Everybody loves Twitchthroe, with 20% IAS, +10 Dexterity and Strength, 25% Increased Chance of Blocking, it cannot be beaten at level 16. Or just use anything you come across. Its not too important, but its nice to have a good Leveling Armor.
Helm:
There are a few good choices here, Biggins Bonnet is useful with a nice boost-+15-to both Life and Mana as well as 30% Enhanced Damage and +30 Attack Rating. At 28 a good option is Peasant Crown.
Weapons:
Well, as you begin your Weapon will hardly matter. Though you will lack the Mana necessary to sustain Dragon Talon for many enemies. For this reason a fast, hard-hitting Weapon is good to level with. I suggest a Civerbs Cudgel. Nothing hits harder at the low levels. Especially with Tiger Strike adding even more damage.
I find that the best way to go about leveling is:
1-4 in Cold Plains, raiding full Baal runs, etc.
4-8 in Stony Field, raiding more.
8-12 Tristram runs, make a pubby game for this.
12-15 Pit runs, raiding works best here.
15-20 Arcane.
20-24 Cows.
24-25 Ancients.
Then just pubby Baal runs.
Now to the fun part, Stats and Skills.
SKILLS:
20 Dragon Talon-
No shit eh? Its your main means of inflicting damage.
20 Burst of Speed-
Come on, do I need to explain myself? Attack and Run/Walk Speed.
20 Venom-
Adds a large amount of Poison damage to your Kicks.
20 Dragon Flight-
Use against the occasional Caster. Does a good amount of Damage.
1 Blade Shield-
Well, it does damage no? Worth a point, making your enemy recover from one extra hit could mean victory.
7 Prerequisites-
This doesnt need an explanation.
Assuming that youve done all Skill Quests this can be done at Level 77. Afterwards I suggest you put all points into Blade Shield, or go ahead and get Cloak Of Shadows. Im not a fan of Cloak Of Shadows, as I find it to be BM. Again its up to you.
Base Stats at level 80:
Strength: This all depends upon your Weapon choice. Just take the maximum Strength Requirement of all of your gear, and subtract from it the total +Strength of all OTHER items including your Annihilus. You now have how much Strength you will need.
Dexterity: Here you will need enough for Maximum Block with your StormShield after all of the +Dexterity from your Items and Annihilus. ((Total Blocking x (Character Level x 2)) / Shields Block value) + 15 = Dexterity for Maximum Block.
Vitality: All other points go here, obviously.
What in the Hell is Energy?!?!?!
Here comes the fun, the PvP gear. There are many options here.
Gear:
Gloves:
Rare or Crafted Gloves, +2 Martial Arts/20% IAS-
Other desirable mods are:
+Strength
+Dexterity
+Life
% Crushing Blow
Draculs Grasp-
Lifetap, +Strength, a nice amount of Defense. Try both options and switch between for certain duels. Use whichever you feel works best. I prefer the +2/20% IAS/Stat Gloves.
Belt:
Verdungo's Hearty Cord-
No question here. Huge bonus to: Vitality, DR, and FHR, unbeatable. Get any xx/15 Dungo's, DR to hit Maximum DR. Of course +40 Vitality is optimal.
Boots:
Rare Myrmidon Greaves-
I suggest Upgraded Soul Shanks, as theyre very nice. Desirable mods:
30% Faster Run/Walk
+Strength
+Dexterity
+Resists
Upgraded Gore Riders-
These Boots have secksi mods and the best Kick Damage. Ladder only, of course. I recommend these over Shadow Dancers, despite the 208 Strength Requirement. ShadowDancers are also an option.
Rings:
Angelic-
There is no other viable option here. This Build relies on AR to hit the enemy. This delivers the AR necessary to do so.
Amulet:
Angelic-
Again, THE BEST option, end of story.
Armor:
Duress-
ShaelUmThul
+40% Faster Hit Recovery
+10-20% Enhanced Damage (varies)
Adds 37-133 Cold Damage
15% Chance of Crushing Blow
33% Chance of Open Wounds
+150-200% Enhanced Defense (varies)
-20% Slower Stamina Drain
Cold Resist +45%
Lightning Resist +15%
Fire Resist +15%
Poison Resist +15%
Obviously its not bad. The key modifications on this Runeword are those in bold. I prefer this to Stone but the choice is yours.
Stone-
ShaelUmPulLum
+60% Faster Hit Recovery
+220-260% Enhanced Defense
+300 Defense Vs. Missile
+16 To Strength
+16 To Vitality
+10 To Energy
All Resistances +15
Level 16 Molten Boulder (80 Charges)
Level 16 Clay Golem (16 Charges)
Again, a very nice RuneWord. The mods important to this Build are in bold. Your choice.
Helm:
Guillaumes Face-
With a good amount of Defense, 30% Faster Hit Recovery, 15% Deadly Strike, 15% Crushing Blow, and +15 to Strength its obvious that this is a great Helm for Meleeers. This is, in my opinion, the most underrated Melee Helm in existence. Cham this, Cannot Be Frozen is imperative.
Crown of Ages-
I dont need to explain this. Everyone knows this is godly. Though I still prefer Guillaumes for this particular Build. The DR isnt necessary, as Maximum DR is already achieved. If you do go with CoA some good choices for socketing are: ED/Min, ED/Strength, ED/Max, or an Um Rune. One socket should have a Cham Rune in it. I prefer to not worry about Resists, as this is a Melee Build.
Weapon:
Here it gets tricky, there are many options for this. I will only make a few suggestions. The choice is up to you.
Beast Caduceus-
Ber + Tir + Um + Mal + Lum
Axes, Hammers & Scepters only
Level 9 Fanaticism Aura When Equipped
+40% Increased Attack Speed
+240-270% Enhanced Damage (varies)
20% Chance of Crushing Blow
25% Chance of Open Wounds
+3 To Werebear
+3 To Lycanthropy
Prevent Monster Heal
+25-40 To Strength (varies)
+10 To Energy
+2 To Mana After Each Kill
Level 13 Summon Grizzly (5 Charges)
Another very powerful RuneWord. Mods beneficial to this Build are in bold.
Fury Claw-
Jah + Gul + Eth
All Melee Weapons
+209% Enhanced Damage
40% Increased Attack Speed
Prevent Monster Heal
66% Chance Of Open Wounds
33% Chance Of Deadly Strike
Ignores Target Defense
-25% Target Defense
+20% Attack Rating
6% Life Stolen Per Hit
+5 To Frenzy (Barbarian Only)
Very nice mods on this. Again, important mods are in bold.
Doom-
Hel + Ohm + Um + Lo + Cham
Axes, Hammers & Polearms only
5% Chance To Cast Level 18 Volcano On Striking
Level 12 Holy Freeze Aura When Equipped
+2 To All Skills
+45 Increased Attack Speed
+280-320% Enhanced Damage (varies)
-57% To Enemy Cold Resistance
20% Deadly Strike
25% Chance of Open Wounds
Prevent Monster Heal
Freezes Target
Requirements -20%
Important mods in bold. I suggest you dont use this, though, as Holy Freeze is extremely BM in Melee
Duels.
Razors Edge-
+(175-225)% Enhanced Damage
+40% Increased Attack Speed
-33% Target Defense
50% Chance of Deadly Strike
50% Chance of Open Wounds
This is the Weapon that I chose. I Shaeled mine, I suggest you do the same if you choose this.
Shield:
StormShield-
Nothing else comes close. This gives you Maximum DR, a good amount of Strength, some fairly nice Resists, and great Blocking. Some suggestions for the socket are: ED/Min, ED/Strength, ED/Ias, and Um if you feel your Resists are off. I chose to ED/Ias mine.
On Weapon Switch:
Weapon:
'Call To Arms' Flail-
The best option, as it has low requirements. Of course a perfect would be ideal, though any will do fine.
Shield:
Lidless-
Everyone knows this, boosts your Battle Orders and Battle Command up an extra level for more Life.
Charms:
Ideal Charm setup:
6xShadow Discipline Grand Charms-
+Life is suggested, plain will do nicely.
4xMartial Arts Grand Charms-
Again, +Life is the best option, but plain will do fine. You can alter the balance of MA/SD Grand Charms to your liking, this is how I like mine.
9x3/20/20's-
I don't need to explain why these are effective.
Annihilus Unique Small Charm-
Again, how can one possibly doubt the usefulness of the Anni?
It is imperative that you use no Poison Damage Charms, as they disrupt the Poison Length of your Venom Skill.

ehhhhhhhhhh... angelics.. well.. okay so if u put some points to fade, it will give resist all, but also gives a hidden percentage of phys. resist. Apart from that, you can have fade active, then max out on IAS.. and I like ur choices of weapons; especially beast & doom.
You also want cloak of shadows, since at max it makes enemies 75% easier to hit.. thats without + skills. All I didnt like is angelic rings and ammy.. you could so get an rare ring + a bul cathos and Maras.. in conjunction with fade.. and btw "lmao" venom works on kick damage dick. wow.. it sais on arreat summit, cmon are u serious? Test it then. So, I would max venom, & get like.. shako, with facet.. but for the poorer, get the crown of ages. And if u can, for armor, get chains of honor.. but I mean, its not like ull be needing more resistances right? So, you can also burst of speed + chains of honor.. instead of fade + another armor or w/e. And btw, dont make dragon talon do more than 4 kicks or 3 kicks, cause theres a glitch that if the first misses, most times all the rest miss too... so if u do like 6 kicks.. wtf ur gona be there for like 5 seconds waiting for ur kicks to end. But yeah, everything on this guide looks good.. Im just pointing some items + skills that would go well together. Btw, fade + SS = 65% res all and 50% phys resist! crazy eh?

dude it even says on arreat summit that venom is only applied to weapon (not boots) so the skill is basically worthless

I've personally made a kicker and its pretty much #1 or #2 on Uswest, and on your weapons guide of this section im surprised that you dont have lacerator as a choice on it, and Im also confusewd on how for your armor choices you dont have eitehr fort or bramble....dont get me wrong your guide is great and I like it alot, just trying to put some input in. xD
If you still have your kicker/still play d2 then msg. me for a kick vrs. kick *ZpR-VooDoo
